The Michael Werner Kunsthandel was founded in 2008 as an expansion and continuation of Galerie Michael Werner. Since the early 1960’s, Michael Werner has worked closely with a central group of important European artists, including Georg Baselitz, Jörg Immendorff, Markus Lüpertz, A.R. Penck, Sigmar Polke and Per Kirkeby. The gallery continues to exhibit these artists as well as a selection of international contemporary artists and modern masters. As of 2011, Michael Werner Kunsthandel has begun a new collaboration with the Ernst Wilhelm Nay Foundation and participates in the German fairs Art Cologne and art KARLSRUHE.
